About us

Artspace Irisa Iwazaki Shouten is an art space housed in a former tatami material warehouse built in 1961,

now repurposed as a creative hub in Numazu, Shizuoka.

The first floor features a permanent raised tatami area that opens for exhibitions, workshops, and community events.

The entire building is available as an Artist-in-Residence space, where artists from Japan and abroad can stay and carry their work from research through to presentation.

As a whole-building rental, the space accommodates up to 4 guests including partners and family.

Open studio formats are welcome. The space is also available for general guests to stay overnight while experiencing local artworks and exhibitions.

We explore new possibilities for art through artist support, and we hope this space becomes a place where visitors connect with the local community and share new value through works and events.
