Artspace Irisa Iwazaki shouten
About us
We at Artspace Irizaki Shoten have repurposed a building that was formerly a tatami material wholesaler, built in 1961.
It operates as an art space .
The first floor features a permanent raised tatami area, which is open as a space for various activities, such as exhibitions and events organized by local residents.
Furthermore, the entire building can be used as an artist-in-residence program, where domestic and international artists can stay and complete their creative process from production to presentation.
This space allows for consistent and efficient operations.
As it is rented out as a whole building, it can accommodate up to 4 people, including your partner or family. It offers an environment where you can fully immerse yourself in your creative work,
We also offer open studio-style production.
Furthermore, we hope that the general public will also use this facility to stay while appreciating art works related to Numazu.
Yes, I am.
We are exploring new possibilities in art, with artist support at our core, and we hope that everyone who visits here will enjoy the artworks and events.
We hope this will become a place where we can connect with the local community and share new values.

How to Engage
You can use the entire facility for a month-long stay as a venue for creative activities and presentations. You can create artwork, exhibit it, hold exchange events, and more. Families and couples are very welcome.
The gallery on the first floor is available for use as a space for events, exhibitions, workshops, talk events, and more.
We also regularly host exhibitions organized by the facility.
This is a whole-house rental plan that includes access to the gallery, kitchen, free space, and Japanese-style room. It's ideal as a base for sightseeing or staying in the area.
It can also be used for private events and training camps.
