Sasano creates papier-mache lantern figures that suit the nighttime scenery of Numazu, placing them in various locations and painting them. His work values the way everyday scenery and personal memories connect and overlap with the thoughts of people who lived in distant places and times.

Hachiro Sasano
Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1958, currently residing in Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture
Graduated from the Department of Art Studies, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. Began his artistic career after working as a teacher at a special-needs school.
